The Future of Innovation: Learning to Lead with Heart
Design Thinking (DT) is a popular innovation process used by companies like Apple, Google, and GE to evolve products and services, and is taught at prestigious universities like Stanford, Harvard, and MIT. However, DT lacks emotional and human-centered attributes, which is where a heart-centered approach comes into play. Pate Moore, an expert in innovation management, argues that a heart-centered approach is necessary for meaningful innovation and creating positive change. To truly connect and engage with problems and solutions, we must first connect internally and become more aware of our own humanness. A heart-centered approach involves becoming vulnerable, trusting, and co-creating with others. DT practitioners may see it as simply an innovation tool, but it has the potential to transform people and organizational cultures.
