Breaking the Barriers of Creativity
Contrary to popular belief, constraints are not a hindrance to creativity, they are necessary for it to flourish. Fixedness is a cognitive bias that restricts our ability to see things in a different way than what we are accustomed to. There are three kinds of fixedness: functional, structural, and relational. These biases hinder our ability to generate novel ideas. However, with the use of cognitive tools, these biases can be overcome.
