Preparing for the next generation of innovation
Autodesk, a technology company that underpins the imagineering that goes into innovation, is working on cutting-edge projects such as 4D printing and bioengineering. The company is collaborating with MIT on a 4D printing project which aims to embed transformation in the basic matter and design of rubber. They are also working with Airbus to create new physical structures based on the work of bacteria. Heuristics, the study of how people learn or discover, is vital in the innovation process to avoid blind alleys and learn from past experiences. A HYPE White Paper suggested that the open innovation office should offer heuristic capabilities, and companies need to consider investing in the iterative power of innovation processes to ensure faster learning and progress.
