Adobe's Innovation Kickbox: what's in the box for thinking outside the box?
Adobe Kickbox is a red box filled with tools and funding that employees can use to generate and develop innovative ideas, bypassing the traditional bureaucratic processes. Created by VP Creativity at Adobe, Mark Randall, the program has seen around 10% of Adobe's 14,000 employees use it since its launch in 2013, resulting in at least 23 ideas moving on to further investment. Kickbox isn't just for engineers and product managers, but for any Adobe employee who wants to utilize it. The program includes a six-level innovation curriculum of sorts and a two-day workshop to inspire and build confidence. Ultimately, employees have to successfully finish Level 6 Infiltrate, convincing an executive to invest time, resources or money in their idea to take it further, to receive the blue box that will help move the idea into a functional beta version.
