Overton Window: How extreme ideas become mainstream

The Overton Window is a concept developed by policy analyst Joseph Overton to explain how ideas and policies are accepted by society. It describes a range of what society is willing to tolerate, from policy to radical and unthinkable ideas, with the middle ground being where most people agree. When introducing a new and radical idea, it can be made more appealing by presenting an even more extreme idea, as shown by political figures like Donald Trump and Gretha Thunberg. This concept can also be applied in marketing by showing counter-examples that are deliberately too radical or crazy, making the current offering seem better by comparison.
