Framework for Technological Innovation System
A technological innovation system is a part of the broader innovation system approach that explains the rate and quality of technological change. The system involves three structures: actors, institutions, and technological factors. The seven system functions by Hekkert - Entrepreneurial Activities, Knowledge Development, Knowledge Diffusion, Search Guidance, Market Formation, Resource Mobilization Activities, and Support from Coalitions- help understand the feedback from a technological and institutional perspective. These structures remain stable over time but don't entirely satisfy the latest emerging technologies. Understanding technological innovation systems can help evaluate the structures and processes of a technological field that support and develop it.
