Why IT says no to innovation

Why IT says no to innovation

Enabling functions such as legal, regulatory, compliance, and IT often say no to innovation requests due to their protective and supporting roles. They ensure that the product or service doesn't violate any laws or cause damage, and can be sustained in the market. However, most enabling functions have thin resources and long development cycles, which can unintentionally delay ideas for years. To overcome this, innovators need to engage their enabling functions early in the process, anticipate and develop new ideas with them, and align their ideas with their capabilities and priorities. This approach will increase the chances of getting a yes and accelerate innovation in the organization.
