The Evolving Role of The Chief Innovation Officer
The Chief Innovation Officer's (CINO) role is changing as innovation becomes a shared task across an organization. A recent study by Capgemini Invent's Management Lab shows that the CINO is shifting from being the sole owner of innovation to being a catalyst for change. The study also revealed that the CINO's role is divided into two categories: Innovation Owner and Innovation Facilitator. The latter is becoming more prominent as the CINO supports other CXOs to innovate and create the conditions and capabilities for innovation to take place. The study emphasizes that innovation requires a shared mindset and a willingness to experiment, which is why the role of the CINO is shifting significantly.
