The Amplified Individual for Innovation
Nesta's report, Amplified Leicester- Impact on social capital and cohesion by De Montford University's Thilo Boeck and Sue Thomas, delves into the power of amplifying diversity when it comes to innovation capacity. The report explores a city-wide experiment in Leicester where they grew innovation capacity across diverse communities by sharing new skills that are essential in 21st-century workplaces and communities. The report looks at social capital, emerging social media and its framework of cohesion, which allows for a diverse group to move forward. The report defines amplified individuals as people who are highly social, collective, improvisational and augmented. They use collaboration software, visualisation tools, attention filters and other technology to enhance their cognitive abilities and coordinate skills to process massive amounts of information.
