
Innovate on Purpose: Reactive or Proactive Innovation?
Innovation can be reactive, waiting for ideas to be presented, or proactive, constantly seeking new ideas. A proactive approach is recommended for beginners, creating well-defined challenges and opportunities for brainstorming. Once a firm has experience with this approach, a suggestion box can be used in a reactive mode. Other factors to consider when choosing between reactive and proactive innovation include communication, investment, and compensation/motivation. Eventually, both approaches can run in parallel.
