Have You Reached Your Creative Peak?
In a study of 221 famous painters by Philip Hans Franses of the Erasmus School of Economics, it was found that the average age at which they created their most creative work was 41.92 years old, after having lived 62% of their total lives. This is close to the Golden Ratio of 61.8% found in nature, art, and financial forecasting. This may suggest that other domains could have the same creative peak at around two-thirds of their total lives. By this age, people have accumulated decades of experience, reached a clearer understanding of their destiny, and become more bold and less serious in their thinking, leading to a creative explosion. However, it is not necessary to give up on creativity after this point, as systematic methods of creativity can turn people into creativity machines regardless of age.
