Crossing Participative Innovation with Open Innovation (1/2)
Participative innovation aims to involve every employee in the innovation process by using idea-sharing platforms and coaching to develop and implement ideas. These platforms may involve voting for the best ideas or allowing internal managers to select the most promising ones. Coaching for intra-preneurship guides the idea owner through developing a value proposition, target, usage/persona, features, and customer experience, among other considerations. The innovation can benefit from integrating an existing business unit or from autonomy in a start-up mode. Various successful examples of participative innovation processes are noted in the article, including at Ubisoft, Renault, IBM, Airbus, BNP Paribas, and Adobe.
