Courageous Cultures: How To Build Teams Of Micro-Innovators, Problem Solvers And Customer Advocates
Karin Hurt and David Dye partnered with the University of North Colorado to conduct research on why employees hold back their ideas. They found that employees don’t lack ideas – they lack confidence. Four main reasons why employees don’t speak up are: no one asked, nothing happens, feeling stuck, and fear. To build a courageous culture, leaders must navigate the narratives, create clarity, cultivate curiosity, and respond with regard. By being their team’s role model, asking courageous questions, and showing gratitude for all ideas, leaders can empower their team to contribute to micro-innovations that transform the organization.
