A Promising Future for Government-Driven Innovation
Governments were once the driving force behind innovation, but with the rise of corporations and open source models, their role has shifted. Stefan Lindegaard, an expert in innovation management, believes that the government can still play a vital role in innovation by providing incentives, creating markets, and offering public data. Furthermore, the government can act as a facilitator to bring together entrepreneurship and innovation, or even play the role of gatekeeper by encouraging bigger companies to work with smaller ones. To drive innovation, governments must embrace a new culture, be willing to experiment and adapt, and foster communication and collaboration between external partners.
