Wireless Innovations Leave Used Connect Cars at Risk
The emergence of Internet of Things (IoT) is changing the world we live in - with the adoption of embedded wireless technologies in cars is no exception. According to Juniper Research, by 2018 most new cars will come with integrated apps as standard. However, the rise of connected cars also means heightened risks of cyber attacks and privacy breaches as shown by recent incidents like the case of second-hand ownership of cars where an ex-owner could still control his old car through his mobile app. Moreover, with self-driving cars already gaining popularity the possibility of cyber attacks on automation is also increasing. Nevertheless, IoT will also bring a brighter future with reduced accidents due to inebriated driving and improved urban mobility.
