Why Innovators Are Like Astronauts
To think outside the box, one must first realize that a box exists. Astronauts provide a perfect example of working and thinking in a new box, with zero gravity, wild temperature fluctuations, and no oxygen. However, to effectively work outside the box like an astronaut, innovators require a chief sponsor, good planning, preparation, and a plan for re-entry. They also need to be trained and proficient in the tools to do good work, and prepared for the difficult and uncertain re-entry of their ideas.
