The Global Innovation Imperative
To tackle complex global challenges, we need to move beyond traditional innovation approaches that are limited by national or organizational boundaries. Three big shifts are needed to embrace global innovation imperatives: revealing and celebrating hidden innovation, accessing the best ideas and people anywhere, and seeing both circles and lines. Hidden innovation should include service-based innovation, participation rates in brands and economies, levels of connectedness, networks, trust, sustainable social impact, and smart government structures and regulation. Organizations should draw on the ideas, people, and technologies outside their organization by being adaptive. Different worldviews can be self-reinforcing with each generation but we need to embrace integrative thinking and bring together eastern and western cultures to create a global innovation culture.
