Put Yourself in a Sticky Situation for Strategic Thinking Exercises
During brainstorming sessions, the use of individual colorful sticky notes has proven to be an effective way to capture new ideas and comments. The reasons why sticky notes are extensively used are: they bring sustainability – written ideas gain life and tangibility, which ensures that a creative idea does not disappear somewhere because everyone can see it; they are portable – stick notes can be moved from one place to another for sharing, collaborative work, or electronic capture; they ensure visibility – ideas can be displayed on walls for all participants to review and consider them; combinations of ideas can be triggered in moving an idea written on a sticky note; individual ideas can be ranked or placed on a matrix to prioritize relevant ideas; ideas can be revisited during or after a session to identify missed opportunities, and, finally, sticky notes are easy to dispose of when participants are done with them.
