Knowledge as a social process
The innovation industry is forever changing, with Silicon Valley one of the most progressive catalysts for the ideas of the future. While the industry has adapted and evolved, the underlying dynamic for innovation remains the same. As innovation is all about creating value from ideas, it's vitally important to discuss these ideas and explore possibilities in the early stages of a new industry. Innovation spaces should exist solely for this purpose - networking and idea sharing. Innovation management can utilize the deep-seated knowledge of established industries while also exploring the opportunities offered by open innovation to operate in a knowledge-rich environment. Knowledge is a social process, carried by people, and the principles behind it lie in knowledge networks, knowledge connectors, knowledge flow, knowledge concentration, and knowledge architecture. The challenge for innovation is how to take what is already known about knowledge as a social process and embed this in the design and operation of knowledge technology.
