Innovate on Purpose: The Problems measuring Innovation
Measuring innovation is difficult because the tools we use to measure regular projects are not suitable for measuring innovation. Innovation is a generic umbrella term that contains a range of activities and outcomes, making it difficult to define and measure. Furthermore, businesses are so focused on ROI that they ignore the impact on customer engagement and delight, which is also difficult to measure. Organizations lack consistent models and frameworks, making it hard to say if innovation is on track or off track. Finally, measuring innovation phases requires different measures and milestones.
