How to tell if innovation matters to your CEO
PwC's survey of innovation asked around 250 executives about the topic. The survey found that the biggest barrier to innovation is culture, as a culture that separates innovation from mainstream operations makes it hard to commercialize new ideas. Over 57% of executives surveyed believe culture is the biggest impediment to innovation; over 13% higher than the second barrier, which is strong visionary business leadership. To ensure innovation, companies should start with an answer to the question, ‘Is the CEO and senior staff working hard on reducing cultural barriers to innovation?’ Only then will they have a chance to create a balance between efficiency and innovation.
