18 Practices for Organizational Agility

Organizations that achieve organizational agility can quickly reassess strategy, structure, processes, people and technology towards value-creating and value-protecting opportunities. McKinsey research found that a balance of dynamism and stability is crucial for achieving this agility. Just 22% of agile-focused organizations have achieved the balance, while 28% favour dynamic practices that do not scale, 27% focus on stability practices and 23% lacked both dynamism and stability. Surveying 18 practices believed to promote organizational agility, the study finds agile organizations outperform traditional organizations. The study also shows that successful Lean-Agile enterprises implement nine practices each of dynamic and stable processes.
