Will you shape innovation, or will it shape you?
As humans, we have been creating and shaping tools since the earliest origin of mankind. However, as technology advances, there is a danger that we may become complacent and rely on others to change or improve our lives, rather than innovating ourselves. This lack of engagement in innovation and creativity means that development of new products and services is left to people who may not have our best interests at heart. Furthermore, the current emphasis on rote memorization in education de-emphasizes risk-taking and creativity. While artificial intelligence can spot and discard thousands of connections, it can't imagine new possibilities, new services and new business models. True creativity and innovation are almost purely human characteristics, and we need to encourage creative thinking and innovation in order to unlock new possibilities.
