Moving towards a more distributed innovation model
Open innovation can shift thinking and encourage employees to see their potential contribution to innovation. Organizations must move away from a “command and control” approach and instead create a culture that values distributed sharing, exchange, and a mindset that put everyone into the job of innovation. A flat lattice organization with distributed leadership can work towards a culture where everyone is encouraged to contribute to delivering innovation. Furthermore, distributed innovation requires a flow of knowledge, which can be achieved through absorptive behavior and the adoption of the adoption model. By permitting employees to see, engage, and become deeply involved in innovation, distributed innovation can lead to greater empowerment and the sustaining of innovation engine and knowledge.
