Innovation's Collaboration Curves and Performance
Collaboration Curves offer continuous, exponential improvement and innovation through knowledge sharing and interactions among a group of participants. Unlike the Experience Curve, which shows declining returns due to longer times to double experience, Collaboration Curves promote greater success over time through online connections and collaborative environments. John Hagel, head of consulting firm Deloitte’s Center for the Edge in Silicon Valley, found that Collaboration Curves may reverse the diminishing returns dynamic and provide increasing returns to performance. However, three prerequisites must be met: attracting participants, interactions, and creating a supportive environment.
