How McKinsey’s Organizational Health Index Relates to Innovation
McKinsey’s Organizational Health Index (OHI) is a powerful tool that organizations can use to improve their effectiveness and management’s performance. Sunshine Coast Credit Union (SCCU) in Canada used OHI to identify areas for improvement in their organization. They identified bottom-up innovation as their weakest area and launched an innovation management platform through which 95% of the workforce participated in an initial call for ideas. Since gathering ideas, they have seen substantial improvement in their bottom-up innovation score, with an average of at least one idea submitted for every employee and a 20% implementation rate. This success was due to their trust in the survey results, use of an innovation management platform, high engagement, and delivery on employee ideas.
