Embedding innovation deep in your culture
Culture has different aspects that must be changed in order for innovation to be successfully introduced. One aspect is how people treat and interact with each other, which signals what is valued and respected. A hoarding culture that restricts communication cannot achieve good innovation. Another aspect is how work gets done - corporations cannot demand innovation without providing new tools, techniques, and skills. Rolling out an innovation culture without introducing new skills and tools can lead to heroic but ultimately doomed efforts. Successful introduction of innovation involves infecting the operational culture with the capabilities, tools, methods, and skills for teams to deliver.
