American Airlines Achieves Greater Efficiency in the Face of Change

When American Airlines merged with US Airways in 2013, they had to rationalize 1,400 systems and applications, including high-profile frequent flyer programs and passenger reservation systems. They used Planview Enterprise for time entry, resource management, and investment and capacity planning to overcome challenges and gain visibility into key IT resources. With time entry, they gained insights into resource usage and positioned teams better for capitalization. Resource management allowed the airline to answer the question of whether they had enough resources to deliver on forecasted work. Using investment and capacity planning, they were able to see every new role required to deliver a project and resolve resource constraints. By using these three areas of Planview Enterprise, IT leaders at American Airlines were able to work more efficiently and move forward with a more efficient roadmap.
