13 Dimensions of Innovation
When it comes to innovation in business, people typically think of new products. However, there are many dimensions of innovation. The Innovation Radar developed by Sawhney, Wolcott, and Arroniz has identified 13 dimensions, including product/service, solution, customer experience, communication, revenue generation, management, and business model. Each dimension can be categorized as a growth opportunity, core capability or operation, and a part of the overarching business model. Focusing on more than one dimension is necessary for true innovation, especially for disruptive innovation. Innovation across many areas provides more opportunities in a company than just products, with consistent measurement and management possible over time.
