Strategy as a Team Sport
The Harvard Business Review's July/August edition features two articles that offer different perspectives on innovation and strategy. The first article argues that there should not be an organizational hierarchy when it comes to the segregation of strategy and execution. Instead, employees at every level should feel empowered to drive strategy as well as execution. The second article advocates for the use of innovation teams that are chartered to break new ground and propagate their innovations into the core operations of the firm. The main takeaway is that innovation and strategy should exist throughout the entire organization with employees feeling empowered to drive both.
