Innovation for the Non-Profit Sector
Non-profit organizations face unique challenges due to a lack of resources and cash flow. They need innovation in fundraising, expanding reach, mission delivery, and resource utilization. However, the approach to innovating non-profits is not widely recognized. Structured innovation methods, such as S.I.T., can be applied to the non-profit business model just as effectively as for-profit models. One proposed method involves Subtraction, Function Follows Form, Task Unification, and Division tools to stimulate new innovative ideas. Some creative examples from the non-profit sector include Nonprofit Shopping Mall, Holiday Matinee, Can Too, and the MarkProf Foundation.
