How to apply Behavioral Design to healthcare
Modern healthcare challenges require new capabilities and solutions that interrupt existing processes. The Behavioral Design Framework is one of the capabilities that will be an asset in this regard. The framework is divided into two parts: Problem Space and Intervention Space. The Problem Space contains the first four steps of the framework, namely Scope, Explore, Detect, and Reframe. The Intervention Space contains the last four steps: Design, Intervene, Adapt, and Reflect. The framework is designed to help businesses focus on the context and behaviors informing the decisions of users and customers. Key tools include Patient behavior journey map, Behavioral Challenge Statement Builder, Patient Behavioral Biases Poster, and Build it, break it, fix it. There are pitfalls to applying the framework, such as under or over-scoping, which can lead to exploration that is either too general or too narrow. It is essential to converge on specific decisions on a patient journey that the business should prioritize.
