Highly creative brains may have more "random" connections
UCLA researchers have discovered that the brains of highly creative people may be wired differently than regular individuals. By comparing brain scans of 21 artists, 21 scientists and 23 intelligent people, the researchers found the brains of highly creative people had more direct connections between distant regions of the brain. This potential faster but less efficient use of brain resources allows highly creative people to develop more direct, longer-distance connections across the brain, allowing them to make new connections and associations to solve problems. By continuing to trigger the activation of distantly connected brain regions through creative activities, these distant, random connections may be strengthened.
